The Detox Diet (before using Viand)

Doggie or Kitty Detox

We do not believe in the pet food merry-go-round! We know our system works, and we understand that you must cleanse the body before it can accept the higher energy and fuel of Viand.

It starts with cleansing your pet’s system of all the toxins that are present in everyday life and that can build up over time. This regimen must be followed. Many have noticed changes in their dog’s focus and vitality, even during the fasting period.

Fast your dog 24-36 hours. This means no solid food but plenty of chicken or vegetable broth and/or fresh water (spring fed, bottled or purified). This allows your pet’s digestive system to rest and his body to purify more deeply. If your dog is less than 6 months, no fast is required. If your dog is 6-18 months, we request that you fast your dog for 12 hours.

After fasting your dog for the appropriate time period, begin the detox diet with the supplements of your choice. (For more on supplements, please see pages 18-21.) When you begin feeding, feed half the recommended amount of the diet for the first two days.

Changes

When you change your dog’s diet to natural raw foods and Viand, he will begin to exhibit greater physical and emotional vitality.

In about 20 percent of our pets, as this resurgence of health happens, there can be short episodes of symptom-like signs known as a Healing Episode. Symptoms can be a return of old sores, hair loss or an unsettled digestive system. These are good signs (yes, good signs!) and show the dog’s body is still healthy enough to be able to eliminate undesirables. As long as your pet is bright-eyed and has good energy and a good appetite, these periods will go away by themselves. Providing fresh pure water or diluted chicken broth will help you and your pet get through the Healing Episode. Just remember, this is a natural process.

Note: If your pet lacks energy, is dull, not clear in the eyes, does not eat for more than 48 hours, or appears truly sick, a trip to the veterinarian is in order. Listen to your inner voice and proceed knowing that your pet is on his way to greater wellness.
